Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Minister of Interior, has directed the Election Task Force to ensure peaceful collation and declaration of results in the Ablekuma North parliamentary election.
He made this statement on the floor of parliament yesterday June 11, when he appeared to answer questions on the election related issues of the constituency.
This development comes after the election results were delayed due to disputes and disagreements between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The Minister’s directive is aimed at preventing any potential violence or unrest that may arise during the collation and declaration process.
The Election Task Force has been tasked with providing the necessary security to ensure a peaceful and transparent process.
The Abelekuma North constituency has been at the center of controversy, with both the NDC and NPP declaring victory in the parliamentary election.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has been working to resolve the disputes and declare the official winner.
In a related development, the constituents of Ablekuma North have been crying out for representation in the 9th Parliament, as the delayed election results have left the area without a representative.
