The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) will celebrate Olympic Day on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium, bringing together over 1,000 students from 20 schools. The event, scheduled to start at 7 am, aims to promote Olympic values and encourage sports participation among young Ghanaians.

Activities Lineup

The celebration will feature a range of activities, including:

  • Fitness Sessions: Energizing warm-ups to get participants moving
  • Mini Sports Competitions: Friendly matches and games to showcase sporting talent
  • Live Demonstrations: 21 sporting disciplines will be showcased, providing a unique chance for students to explore various sports and discover new talents
  • Quiz Competition: A test of knowledge on Olympism, focusing on the Olympic Movement, its history, and core values such as excellence, friendship, and respect

Promoting Olympic Values

GOC President, Mr. Richard Akpokavie, emphasized that the early celebration on June 21, rather than the global Olympic Day on June 23, allows for greater participation and aligns with local programming schedules. The event aims to inspire Ghanaians to adopt the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle .
