The Management of Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Accra West Region, has announced a temporary shutdown of the Weija Treatment Plant to allow for emergency repair works on critical pipelines supplying water to several parts of western Accra.
The shutdown, which began at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, is expected to continue until 5:00 p.m, resulting in intermittent water supply interruptions in multiple communities.
Affected Areas Include:
- Korle-Bu
- Dansoman
- Mamprobi
- Parts of Weija
- Gbawe
- Malam
- Anyaa
- Kwashieman
- Ablekuma
- Darkuman
- Kaneshie
- Tesano
- Odorkor
- Sowutuom
- Lapaz
- Parts of Achimota
- North Industrial Area, and surrounding communities.
GWL has apologised for the inconvenience and assured residents that engineers are working swiftly to complete the repairs and restore normal water supply.
“Our engineers are on site working hard to ensure that the work is completed on schedule,” the company said in a statement. “We regret the inconvenience caused to our valued customers and the public.”
Public Advised to Prepare
GWL has advised residents and businesses in the affected areas to make alternative water arrangements during the repair period.
The company reiterated its commitment to maintaining reliable water delivery and thanked customers for their patience and understanding.
