High Court Orders Nana Agradaa to Open Her Defence in Nude Image Case

The High Court has directed Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, also known as Nana Agradaa and the founder of Heaven Way Champions International Ministry, to begin her defence in a case involving the alleged circulation of nude images of Prophet Emmanuel Appiah Fomum.

Justice Mary Ekue Yanzuh rejected a submission of no case filed by Agradaa’s legal team, ruling that she must respond to the charges brought against her. Agradaa’s lawyer, Richard Baffour, pleaded for an adjournment to allow the accused to appear in court. However, the judge proceeded with the ruling in her absence.

The court has since instructed prison officials to ensure Agradaa is present for the next hearing. Her legal team is also expected to submit their witness statements ahead of proceedings. The case has been adjourned to July 30 for a case management conference.

Agradaa, a former traditional priestess who became a preacher, is facing four criminal charges: one for possession of obscene material and three for the non-consensual distribution of intimate images. Prosecutors allege that in 2021, she broadcast nude photos of Prophet Fomum on her TV station, formerly known as Thunder TV .

Further allegations state that she used the images on a bitters product label shown on her TV program. According to the prosecution, three other individuals—Enoch Owusu Kissi, Charles Omane, and Emmanuel Kofi Gyasi—have also been charged with abetment of crime. They are accused of making derogatory comments about the complainant’s nudity and helping to distribute the images.
