Free SHS Policy Extended to 60 Private Schools in Ghana

In a major expansion of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, the Government of Ghana has officially extended the initiative to include 60 selected private SHS institutions. This marks a significant milestone since the policy’s inception under the Akufo-Addo administration.

The inclusion of private schools aims to ease overcrowding in public SHSs and ensure wider access to quality secondary education across the country. It also reflects a growing partnership between the public sector and private educational institutions.

The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) has applauded the move, describing it as a progressive step toward equitable and inclusive education for all Ghanaian students.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to verify the list of approved private SHSs benefiting from the Free SHS policy. Official information can be accessed through the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service (GES), or GNACOPS platforms.
