Ghana to Host 2025 African Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship

Ghana will host the 2025 African Youth and Weightlifting Championship at Bukom Sports Emporium in the month of August Slated from 15th to 22nd August, 2025, at the GA Mashie Hall of the Trust Sports Emporium.

The Championship is been organized by the Ghana Weightlifting Federation in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the Ghana Olympic Committee(GOC) , the National Sports Authority(NSA) with support from the International Weightlifting Federation(IWF).

With 24 days to go, the Championship is expected to attract young and talented weightlifters from the African continent, who will compete among themselves for continental medals, pride, and global recognition.

Authorities incharge of the Championship have started Preparations at the Trust Sports Emporium, to ensure it meets the International Standard.

Ghana known for hosting African Championships is ready to welcome young and vibrant weightlifters, who are ready to make a name for themselves and attain Global recognition.

Under the leadership of Jerry Ahmed Shaib, President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF), the member of Parliament for Weija- Gbawe commissioned the newly renovated National Weightlifting Training Center at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The facility, which had been non-operational for nearly a year, undergone significant upgrades to enhance training conditions for athletes.

The center will also welcome international athletes and contribute to the promotion of weightlifting as a mainstream sport in the country.
