The Duku Festival, in collaboration with the Ghana Cycling Federation, organized the 2nd edition of the Duku Festival Road Race event at the Osu Castle Total Filling Station in Accra.
Cycling enthusiasts witness another exciting chapter of cycling history during the 2nd Edition of the Duku Homowo Cycling Race. Organized under the auspices of the Ghana Cycling Federation, the male’s road race stretched to 100km (30 laps) route, testing the endurance, strategy, and determination of the Cyclist. With 80 riders, some coming from other African Countries, the race set off at 10:00am.

The competition turned fierce as the peloton pushed through the course at an impressive average speed of 36.78 km/h. The event drew an impressive crowd and the atmosphere was electric, as the cycling enthusiasts cheered passionately for their cyclists.
After 2 hours, 43 minutes, and 56 seconds of breathtaking and intensive cycling, Emmanuel Sesi of the Royal Club emerged victorious, crossing the finish line in style and taking home an amount of Ghc10,000. His performance was great, narrowly edging out other competitors in one of the closest finishes in the race second edition.
Frank David Akuffo Awuku followed in second place. Finishing second, he took home an amount of Ghc8,000. Solomon Tagoe of Gutten Cycling Team claimed the third spot, also recording 02:43:57. The top 10 finishers included some of Ghana’s most promising talents, such as Victor Cudjoe Akpabli (Young Stars), Joseph Zubil (Gutten), and Prince Love Adjei Quaye (TBT), each leaving their mark in this year’s edition.
The Duku Homowo Cycling Race, symbolizes unity, culture, and the celebration of tradition through sport. It highlights how Homowo, a festival rooted in heritage of Ghana continues to inspire new avenues of excellence and competition in the sporting fraternity. One thing was clear, Ghana’s cycling is on an upward journey.
