former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia continues to lead the race for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership, according to the latest tracking polls by Global InfoAnalytics.
The data shows Dr. Bawumia with 57% support among voters, placing him well ahead of his closest rival, Kennedy Agyapong, who commands 29%. Other contenders — including Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, and Kwabena Agyapong — remain far behind with single-digit support.
Among NPP delegates, the gap narrows slightly but still shows Dr. Bawumia in a commanding position with 47% support, compared to 17% for Kennedy Agyapong. A significant proportion of delegates, however, remain undecided, adding an element of unpredictability to the contest.
In a potential runoff scenario, Dr. Bawumia’s advantage grows even stronger, securing 62% of the vote against Agyapong’s 38%.
Mussa Dankwah: “Bawumia’s Lead Will Be Hard to Overturn”
Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Monday, September 29, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, said the data shows a clear path to victory for Dr. Bawumia — unless there are major upsets.
“It is still not over. I won’t say it is over, but if you look at where the leading candidate is, it is highly unlikely that every undecided voter will go to one candidate,” he remarked.
Dankwah also revealed that the research team has conducted in-depth analysis on undecided voters, though those findings are yet to be published.
“We believe that Kennedy has to do a lot more to bring Dr. Bawumia down, or his other competitors should do a lot more in order to drag Dr. Bawumia from where he is,” he said.
Unless significant momentum shifts occur in the coming weeks, forcing a runoff will be difficult, Dankwah concluded.
