President Mahama Urges Bold Action for Women’s Empowerment at Global Leaders’ Meeting

President John Dramani Mahama has called on world leaders and development partners to move beyond rhetoric and take bold, transformative actions to promote women’s empowerment and gender equality.

Speaking at the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, President Mahama emphasized the urgent need to translate global commitments into tangible improvements in the lives of women and girls, particularly across Africa.

“The African woman is particularly vulnerable, and I wish to use this platform to call on my colleague African leaders to focus on the welfare and empowerment of our women,” he stated.

He stressed that gender equality is not only a matter of justice and human rights, but a powerful driver of sustainable development.

“When women succeed, families thrive, communities become stronger, and nations progress,” President Mahama said.

Drawing on Ghana’s own experience, he highlighted how investing in women leads to greater productivity, innovation, and social cohesion.

Calling on governments and international stakeholders, President Mahama urged a shift from “platitudes to transformative action,” underscoring that the occasion should mark a turning point in the global pursuit of gender equality.
