GAF Resumes 2025/2026 Recruitment in Greater Accra On Thursday With 8 New Sub Centers

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the resumption of its 2025/2026 recruitment exercise in the Greater Accra Region, starting Thursday, November 20, 2025, following a one-week suspension caused by a deadly stampede at the El-Wak Stadium.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, resulted in several injuries and six fatalities, prompting an immediate halt to the screening process.

In a press statement issued on Monday, November 17, 2025, and signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin (Ghana Navy), Acting Director General of Public Relations, the GAF confirmed that the exercise will proceed under enhanced safety and administrative measures.

New Screening Centres and Procedure

The rescheduled screening will be conducted across eight sub-centres within five major locations in the Greater Accra Region:

  • El-Wak Stadium – 2 centres
  • Nicholson Park, Burma Camp – 2 centres
  • Air Force Base, Burma Camp
  • Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Teshie – 2 centres
  • Eastern Naval Command, Tema

According to the GAF, all qualified applicants—assigned to batches of 600 candidates each—will receive SMS notifications containing their reporting dates, batch numbers, and designated screening centres.

Applicants are encouraged to check the recruitment portal regularly for updates and follow all instructions strictly. Those who do not receive an SMS by November 20 are advised to call 0256405104 or send a WhatsApp message to 0256405154 for assistance. Verification may also be done through the recruitment portal.

Tightened Access and Crowd Control

To reduce congestion and prevent a repeat of last week’s tragedy, the GAF emphasized that family members and friends will not be allowed at the screening centres. Only applicants will be granted entry.

The Forces also confirmed that a Board of Inquiry is currently investigating the circumstances that led to the November 12 stampede.

New Recruitment Supervisory Team

In a move to ensure fairness and efficiency, the entire Greater Accra recruitment team has been replaced. The new officers supervising the process are:

  • Commodore F.A. Nyarko – Director General, Human Resource
  • Colonel F. Kusi-Darko – Director, Manpower
  • Colonel G.B. Eduah – Director, Information Technology

Support for Victims

The GAF reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the victims of the stampede. Injured persons will continue to receive free medical care at the 37 Military Hospital until full recovery.

Additionally, the Armed Forces will provide a special recruitment package for the injured after recovery, along with support for the families of those who lost their lives.0
