Gender Minister Visits Assault Survivor, Assures Full Support

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has visited the woman who was physically assaulted by her estranged husband in a widely circulated viral video.

During the visit, the Minister expressed solidarity with the survivor and assured her of the Ministry’s full support, including psychosocial assistance, legal guidance, and welfare interventions to ensure her safety and overall well-being.

Authorities have since taken action, with the suspect remanded into police custody alongside two of his siblings by an Accra Magistrate Court as investigations continue.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting survivors of abuse and strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders to curb domestic violence across the country.

It also urged the public to remain vigilant and report all suspected cases of abuse through the following channels:

  • Or report to the nearest police station
