The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, has praised the “extraordinary shared history and heritage” between the United Kingdom and Ghana during a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
Prince Edward arrived in Ghana on Sunday, November 23, for a two-day working visit focused on strengthening the modern partnership between the two nations. His engagements underscore shared Commonwealth values and highlight collaboration in climate-smart development, innovation, education, and inclusive sports.
Welcoming the Duke to the Jubilee House, President Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s longstanding ties with the United Kingdom and the importance of sustaining mutually beneficial cooperation. In response, the Duke expressed his appreciation for Ghana’s warm hospitality and enduring friendship.
“I am delighted to be here to see that the traditions are continuing,” he said. “I am honoured to be with you and to echo your remarks on how we can continue our relationship as two countries for our common prosperity, and to impact the youth of the future to take on common roles as we move forward.”
He further conveyed gratitude to Ghanaians for their continued partnership: “So, thank you for the continued friendship and partnership, and I hope it continues.”
On Monday, November 24, Prince Edward travelled to Aburi, where he visited a kindergarten and a teacher-training classroom at the Presbyterian Women’s College of Education. The visit highlighted the transformative impact of Sabre Education’s support to the Government of Ghana—work made possible through UK partnership—to advance play-based early childhood education and strengthen teacher preparation systems nationwide.
The Duke’s visit continues to reinforce the dynamic and evolving relationship between Ghana and the United Kingdom, anchored in shared goals and a commitment to inclusive development for future generations.
