Uganda has landed: The first team arrives in Morocco, setting the tone for AFCON2025

The Uganda National Football Team, the Cranes, is the first country to arrive in Morocco ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), emphasizing a strategy of early acclimatization and focused preparation for the tournament.

The message from the camp is clear: preparation starts now. This early arrival is viewed not merely as logistical convenience, but as a statement of serious intent from a team eager to make a deep impact in the tournament.

Head Coach Paul Put has laid the groundwork, naming an expanded 30-man provisional squad designed for pre-tournament evaluation.

The selection breakdown reveals an attacking emphasis, with 12 forwards included, supported by 4 goalkeepers, 9 defenders, and 5 midfielders. This squad will be trimmed to a final list following a period of intensive training and assessment of the Moroccan

Uganda finds itself in a highly competitive Group C, often referred to as the “Group of intrigue.” They will face three times AFCON Champions Nigeria, the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, and regional neighbors Tanzania.

Each match promises high stakes, with Uganda aiming to qualify out of the group that includes North, West, and East African footballing countries.

The Cranes’ journey in recent AFCON tournaments has been impressive, marked by determined performances.

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations kicks off on 21st December 2025 with Morocco as the host.
