The Ghana Chess Association is pleased to announce the winners of the recently concluded National Chess Championship, held in Accra. The event brought together top chess players from across the country, showcasing exceptional skill, strategy, and sportsmanship.
- Open Category: CM Bernard Anhwere emerged victorious, demonstrating outstanding chess prowess to claim the top spot with 7.5 pts.
- Women’s Category: WCM Maud Benson took home the title, solidifying her position as one of the country’s leading female chess players with 7 pts.
- Juniors Category: Bernard Biney Otoo’s impressive performance earned him the junior championship title, highlighting the bright future of Ghanaian chess.

The top 5 in the Open and Ladies categories will represent Ghana as The Golden Knights at the 46th World Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan later this year. We wish them the best in their preparations.


The Ghana Chess Association extends its gratitude to the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, for gracing the closing ceremony. He expressed his appreciation for the game of chess and commended the organizers, notably Madam Christiana Ashley, for a thrilling event. He pledged his continued support to the sport, highlighting the impressive youth involvement.
