The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the disbursement of a total of GHC8,989,866.00 as a feeding grant for Special Needs Schools across the country, marking a key milestone in Ghana’s efforts to strengthen inclusive education.
The announcement was made in a press release signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, on Wednesday, June 25.
According to the statement, the grant is intended to cover the feeding requirements of all learners in Special Needs institutions nationwide, ensuring that no child is left behind due to dietary or financial constraints.

GES commended the Government of Ghana for its continued support for learners with special needs, noting that the funding demonstrates a strong commitment to equitable access to quality education for all students, regardless of their physical or intellectual abilities.
“GES remains committed to collaborating with all stakeholders to deliver inclusive education for every learner, regardless of ability,” the release stated.
Appreciation for Stakeholders
The Service also extended its gratitude to the heads, staff, and students of Special Needs Schools for their patience and dedication throughout the grant disbursement process.
This latest funding initiative is seen as part of broader efforts to enhance the well-being and academic experience of learners in Special Needs institutions, aligning with Ghana’s inclusive education policy.
GES reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders, including parents, educators, and development partners, to ensure that inclusive education becomes a sustainable and well-resourced pillar of the national education system.
