Apologise to Ghanaians and appoint more ministers – Afenyo-Markin

The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has called on President John Mahama to apologize to Ghanaians so he can appoint more than the 60 ministers he promised.

According to him, it will be difficult to run a government with the high expectations and structure of governance of the country.

“When we make mistakes, let’s admit them and apologize. Sixty ministers will not help your political cause.

“I am not the president, but if I were to advise Mr. President, I would say, Mr. President, you can apologize to Ghanaians and say, look, you underestimated the thing. I think I need to engage more ministers,” he stated.

Meanwhile, he further expressed concerns about the challenges of combining ministries, such as the Local Government and Chieftaincy Ministry, which he described as requiring intensive oversight and conflict resolution.

Ahead of the 2024 election, President Mahama pledged to appoint only 60 ministers as part of measures to cut down government expenditure.
