GHANA BAR ASSOCIATION IS NOT HONEST – LAWYER ALIFO CRITICISES

By: MENSAH MAXWELL

The founder of HelpLaw Ghana Foundation, Lawyer Eric Alifo has accused the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) of dishonesty during an appearance on ADOA TV’s AM Ghana Show last Thursday, May 8, 2025.

The discussion centered on the removal of the Chief Justice and President John Mahama’s actions in line with the Constitution.

Alifo questioned the Bar Association’s silence during the previous administration led by former President Akufo Addo, wondering why they’re now speaking out against President Mahama’s alleged harassment of the Chief Justice and the court.

This criticism suggests that the Ghana Bar Association is being selective in its advocacy, only speaking out when it suits their interests.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the Ghana Bar Association has faced criticism.

In 2023, Beatrice Annan, a member of the legal team of the opposition National Democratic Congress, described the leadership of the Ghana Bar Association.
