Lawyer Alifo, Founder of HelpLaw Ghana Foundation, has stated that President could face impeachment if he fails to abide by the Council of State’s recommendations regarding the removal of the Chief Justice.
This assertion was made during an interview on ADOA TV’s AM GHANA SHOW on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
According to Lawyer Alifo, the President’s failure to comply with the Council of State’s recommendations could have severe consequences, including impeachment.
This statement highlights the complex and nuanced process of removing a Chief Justice in Ghana, which involves the President, the Council of State, and the judiciary.
In Ghana, the President plays a significant role in the removal process of the Chief Justice, as outlined in Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution.
However, the Constitution also provides checks and balances to ensure that the President’s actions are in line with the principles.
