The Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has extended his sincere appreciation to four professional nursing and midwifery associations for their commitment to providing essential health services despite the ongoing strike declared by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA).
This was cited by ADOA news on the official Ministry of Health Ghana X (formerly Twitter) account today, Wednesday 11 June, 2025.
According to the post, “Health Minister, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has expressed sincere appreciation to the four professional associations who continue to provide critical health services despite the ongoing strike.”

The associations, namely the Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives, Ghana (UPNMG), the Professional Association of Psychiatric Nurses Ghana (PAPNG), the National Association of Registered Midwives, Ghana (NARM-GH), and the Ghana Registered Midwives Association (GRMA), have reaffirmed their commitment to securing the implementation of the Collective Agreement (CA) on Conditions of Service (COS) through structured dialogue and mutual respect.
In a joint statement last week, the associations clarified that they are not part of the industrial action declared by GRNMA and have urged their members to remain at post and continue delivering essential health services.

The Health Minister’s expression of gratitude acknowledges the critical role that these associations play in ensuring the continued provision of healthcare services to Ghanaians, particularly during this challenging period.
The commitment of UPNMG, PAPNG, NARM-GH, and GRMA to finding a peaceful resolution to the ongoing dispute is a testament to their dedication to the welfare of their members and the healthcare needs of the nation.
