2025/26 Ghana Premier League Season Kicks Off, September 12

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced that the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season will commence on Friday, September 12, 2025, and wrap up during the weekend of May 23–24, 2026.

This announcement comes as part of a proactive effort to align the domestic football calendar with the upcoming 23rd FIFA World Cup, which is set to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. The new schedule ensures the league concludes in time to allow full focus on the global tournament, highlighting the GFA’s dedication to international standards and competitive integrity.

The GFA also confirmed that its Ordinary Congress will be held on August 12, 2025, serving as the key administrative forum ahead of the new season. Additionally, the player registration window will be open from Monday, June 23 to Sunday, August 24, 2025, in line with GFA regulations. This period allows Premier League clubs to strengthen their squads and make key strategic adjustments.

Defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars SC will aim to retain their title, while three newly promoted teams—Techiman Eleven Wonders FC, Swedru All Blacks United FC, and Hohoe United FC—are set to make their mark in the top tier after earning promotion from the Access Bank Division One League.

In a statement, the GFA reiterated its commitment to maintaining a “vibrant, competitive, and well-coordinated football season across all levels.” The early release of the league calendar is designed to aid clubs, coaches, players, and all stakeholders in their planning and preparation for what promises to be another thrilling season of Ghanaian football.

The Ghana Premier League continues to be a cornerstone of the nation’s sports culture, and with the 2025/26 season on the horizon, fans can look forward to an exciting campaign that blends tradition with modern professionalism.
