The Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has assured that government will ensure a smooth and efficient visa process for Ghanaians planning to travel to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is expected to draw thousands of football fans from across the world. Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, who is also the Member of Parliament for Abura Asebu Kwamankese, said government remains committed to making it possible for as many Ghanaian supporters as possible to attend.

His assurance comes after Ghana’s qualification for the global showpiece and follows a series of high level engagements involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ghana Football Association, and officials from the US Embassy and the Canadian High Commission.

“As a government, we have a duty to always look out for the interests of Ghanaians,” he said in an interview with Joy Sports. “The Foreign Ministry has proactively engaged the necessary authorities in the host countries to ensure the visa process is seamless.”

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu further revealed that the Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has already held productive discussions with embassy officials, which yielded positive feedback. Ablakwa also confirmed on social media that a similar meeting would soon be held with Mexican officials to finalise Ghana’s comprehensive visa facilitation plan ahead of the World Cup.
