The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has elected Mr. Richard Ellimah, a Natural Resource Governance and Community Analyst, as its new Chair for a one-year term from November 2025 to November 2026.
Mr. Ellimah, a PIAC member representing Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), was elected on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, succeeding Constantine K. M. Kudzedzi, Esq. He expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him and committed to building on the foundation laid by his predecessors to advance PIAC’s mandate of promoting transparency and accountability in the management of petroleum revenues.
A community activist and development planner with nearly two decades of experience in Ghana’s natural resource sector, Mr. Ellimah is known for his dedication to civil society and resource governance.
In the same meeting, Mr. Edward Yaw Afriyie, a Biomedical Scientist representing the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), was elected Vice Chairperson for a one-year term. He takes over from Odeefuo Amoakwa Boadu VIII.
Prior to the election, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the Coordinating Director, Technical at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Samuel Arkhurst, swore in five new PIAC members on behalf of the Honourable Minister. The new members include representatives from key sectors such as the Ghana Extractives Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI), the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), and the National House of Chiefs.
