The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has paid a working visit to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohonu, at the Police Headquarters to discuss comprehensive security measures ahead of this year’s December in GH celebrations.

The high-level meeting, attended by all Commissioners of the Ghana Police Service, focused on strategies to strengthen safety across event zones, hospitality centres, entertainment corridors, and other high-traffic areas expected to host thousands of local and international visitors in December.

The GTA CEO commended the Ghana Police Service for its professionalism and sustained commitment to national safety, praise that aligns with findings from the 2024 Tourism Report, which revealed that 65% of international visitors consider Ghana one of the safest destinations in Africa. She stressed that this strong reputation for safety remains a core pillar of Ghana’s tourism appeal and a vital asset for the December in GH brand.

IGP Christian Tetteh Yohonu expressed appreciation for the GTA’s proactive engagement and assured the CEO of the Police Service’s full readiness to provide robust security before, during, and after the festive season. He emphasised that close collaboration between both institutions is crucial to delivering a seamless and incident-free December experience for all participants.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to deepen coordination between the GTA and the Ghana Police Service as Ghana prepares to welcome visitors from around the world for what has become the country’s biggest annual tourism and entertainment season.
