The children of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, have delivered a moving tribute in her honour, describing her as a woman of remarkable conviction, strength, and enduring national influence. The tribute was read by her son, Kimathi Rawlings, during her funeral ceremony held at the Black Star Square on Friday, November 28.

Speaking on behalf of his siblings, Kimathi expressed the family’s deep sense of loss and their admiration for the values their mother embodied throughout her life.

“Mom, queen of our hearts, your legacy lives on through the lessons you taught us, the love you shared and the examples you set. Mom, we love and miss you — and Dad, we love and miss you,” he said emotionally.

A Life of Courage and Purpose

Kimathi highlighted that Nana Konadu lived a life guided by courage, purpose, and unwavering dedication to Ghana. He described her as a patriotic woman who seized every opportunity to celebrate and uplift her country.

You lived with a conviction that shaped both our family and the country… No problem was too small for you to personally tackle, and no situation was ever out of your expertise,” he remarked.

A Woman of Action and Vision

Our father trusted you completely because you had an unfailing ability to perceive purpose and possibility. You were far more than a right-hand; you were strategic, clear-minded and unwavering.

A Beloved Mother and Grandmother

Kimathi also spoke warmly about her role within the family, portraying her as a pillar of strength, wisdom, and affection.

You were our protector, confidante and friend. As a grandmother, you were incredible — funny, generous, wise, strict, trendy and above all, kind.
