A contractual dispute has emerged at Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club. It has come to light that the club has failed to fulfil its financial obligations to members of its squad for the past three months, leading to formal legal action.
The situation has been brought into focus by a formal termination notice issued on behalf of player Hamza Issah. The correspondence, dated 8 December 2025 and addressed to the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Delali Anku Adiamah, declares an immediate termination of Issah’s employment contract.
The legal representation, ProSport International, states in the notice that their client has not received his agreed monthly gross salary of GHC 5,000 for September, October, and November 2025. The letter cites this as a “persistent failure to honour its financial obligations,” constituting a “continued and material breach” of the employment agreement.

The agents invoke the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP), which stipulate that failure to pay a player’s remuneration for more than two consecutive months provides the player with just cause to terminate his contract unilaterally.
The notice formally demands the immediate issuance of Hamza Issah’s International Transfer Certificate (ITC) clearance certificate and all related documentation, a necessary step for the player to register with a new club.
While the letter specifically addresses Hamza Issah’s case, it confirms wider financial difficulties within the club, noting that players have not been paid for three months. This development raises serious concerns about the club’s operational stability and its adherence to contractual agreements with its playing staff.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA), copied on the correspondence, is now likely to be drawn into the matter to mediate or adjudicate. Unilateral terminations due to unpaid salaries, if proven, can lead to sporting and financial sanctions for clubs under FIFA and GFA regulations.
As of now, Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has not issued a public statement regarding these allegations or the specific termination notice. The situation places immense pressure on the club’s administration to resolve the wage arrears swiftly to prevent further contractual breaches.
