The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has confirmed its final 26-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), a squad announcement marked by the high-profile return of Wilfried Zaha and the significant absence of the injured Simon Adingra.
Head coach Emerse Faé, who masterminded the country’s 2023 triumph, will lead the Éléphants into the tournament as both defending champions. The squad, revealed today, is built to navigate a challenging Group.
The most notable inclusion is that of experienced winger Wilfried Zaha. The 32-year-old Charlotte FC forward, whose last international appearance was in 2023, returns following a reconciliation with the technical team.
Sources confirm Zaha offered a formal apology to Coach Faé and federation officials, paving the way for his recall.
The squad news carries a blow with the omission of Simon Adingra. The winger, currently on loan at Sunderland from Brighton & Hove Albion, has been ruled out due to an injury sustained in club duties.
Adingra was a pivotal figure in the 2023 victory, and his absence deprives Faé of an attacking option.
The core of the triumphant 2023 squad remains, featuring captain Franck Kessié and Seko Fofana, and striker Sébastien Haller. They are supported by a blend of established European-based players, Amad Diallo of Manchester United
Nicolas Pépé, Wilfried Singo and Bénie Traoré also misses out in the squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
