Aide to Bawumia Accuses Speaker Bagbin of Being Bias in Kpandai Election Dispute

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has sharply criticised Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, accusing him of failing to act independently in the Kpandai parliamentary election dispute.

During an appearance on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, December 10, Aboagye said the developments surrounding the Kpandai seat amount to “the most shocking and rogue ruling” he has encountered. He questioned the judgment of both the High Court and Parliament in their handling of the matter.

Aboagye alleged that Bagbin’s political leanings influence his decisions, saying, “The Speaker is an NDC person, so he will never take a fair position. He is not fair, not just, and not independent-minded.” He argued that such conduct weakens public trust in Parliament’s role in resolving electoral disputes.

His comments follow Parliament’s move to declare the Kpandai seat vacant after a High Court in Tamale ordered a rerun of the parliamentary election in the constituency.
