The Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) has ushered in a new era of leadership following its elective congress held today at the Media Center of the Accra Sports Stadium.
Mr. Dauda Fuseini, the Federation’s former First Vice President, was elected as the new President. He secured a decisive victory over the incumbent, Mr. Bernard Quartey. The election saw Mr. Fuseini amassed 85 votes against Mr. Quartey’s 25 from the 115 eligible delegates.
The congress also filled other key positions on the executive board. Mr. Nii Gonti went unopposed as the First Vice President. For the role of Second Vice President, Mr. Solomon Otoo Lartey won with 83 votes against his opponent’s 28.
Mr. Mustapha Nettey was elected Treasurer, receiving 85 votes against his contender’s 25. For the two available Executive Member positions, six candidates contested. Mr. George Lamptey, former President of the Boxing Federation and senior officer at Ghana Aviation Authority amassed 66 votes and Ms. Sarah Lotus Asare with 61 votes to complete the new executive committee.
The newly elected executives are expected to serve a four-year term, with a mandate to steer the federation towards greater development and international success for Amateur Boxing.

With the successful completion of the elections, the newly elected executives are expected to officially assume office and work towards the development, growth, and restructuring of Amateur boxing in Ghana.
There’s optimism that the new leadership will strengthen governance, promote athlete welfare, and restore confidence in the administration of the sport in the country
