BoG Governor Praises Asantehene’s Leadership as Pillar of National Stability

Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Johnson Asiama, has paid glowing tribute to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, describing his leadership as a vital source of stability, wisdom and moral clarity in Ghana’s national development.

Dr Asiama made the remarks on Wednesday, March 7, when the Asantehene paid a courtesy call on him at the Bank Square in Accra. The visit, though largely ceremonial, was widely seen as reinforcing engagement between traditional authority and the country’s economic managers at a time when Ghana is steadily advancing towards economic stability.

Addressing Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the BoG Governor noted that Ghana has long benefitted from the Asantehene’s unique brand of leadership, which he described as quiet, steady and deeply anchored in wisdom.

According to Dr Asiama, in moments of national tension, the Asantehene has consistently demonstrated that true authority is exercised not through noise or spectacle, but through balance, restraint and moral clarity.

“Otumfuo, Ghana has long benefitted from your brand of leadership — quiet, steady and deeply anchored in wisdom. In moments of national tension, you have reminded us that authority is not exercised through noise or fuss, but through balance, restraint and moral clarity,” he said.

Dr Asiama added that this instinct for stability has made the Asantehene’s voice relevant beyond traditional and social matters, extending into broader national discussions on development, discipline and progress.

“That instinct for stability has made your voice relevant, not only in matters of chieftaincy and social cohesion, but also in the broader national conversation about development, discipline and progress,” he noted.

The BoG Governor expressed appreciation for the Asantehene’s continued interest in national economic affairs and reaffirmed the central bank’s commitment to policies that promote stability, growth and public confidence in Ghana’s financial system.
