The biggest opposition party in Ghana, the New Patriotic Party has had some founding members and grassroots complaining about the change in traditional culture of the party.
Former President, H.E. John Agyekum Kuffour openly voiced his disappointment in the current leadership of the New Patriotic Party. He stated the party’s failure to include the ”elders” of the party in party affairs is wrong.
Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, one of the founding members of the Party has also reinterated the Former President’s remarks.
“The proper way is to organise from the grassroots to the top. That has always been the tradition of the party, but unfortunately, it did not happen.”
Speaking on Joy Fm’s morning show, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe said the party leadership in their quest to win the 2028 elections after defeat must seek council from ”elders” of the party to rebuild its structures from the bottom to the top.
“A party that has been badly damaged in a general election cannot proceed the way the NPP is going now. You must go back to the grassroots, listen to them, let them tell you exactly how they feel, and allow even the broader population to understand why you failed,” he stated.
He claimed the current leadership of the party is leading the party to destruction-“I won’t say the party is doomed, but the leadership at the moment is leading the party into destruction,” .
