The Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (GBIMC) has successfully conducted the second phase of its mandatory health screening exercise for licensed professional boxers, with the entire cost of the exercise fully sponsored by Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) presidential candidate, Mr. Ivan Bruce-Cudjoe.
The exercise took place today, with boxers first converging at the Jamestown Police Station for registration, formalities, and refreshments. Athletes were then transported comfortably to La-Paz Community Hospital in Accra by Ayalolo Buses for their medical examinations.

A total of 150 boxers were scheduled to undergo the mandatory medical tests, which covered all protocols prescribed by the GBIMC’s Sub-Committee on Medical, Safety, and Anti-Doping.
According to sources at Dornu’s Corner, Mr. Bruce-Cudjoe’s sponsorship fully covered both the logistical arrangements and the medical examinations.

The GBIMC noted that boxers who duly registered but were unable to attend the exercise may report directly to La-Paz Community Hospital at their convenience, as their bio-data has already been captured.

In a related development, the GBIMC disclosed that a secure digital medical records database is currently undergoing deployment and testing. The system will be formally handed over to the incoming GBA Executive Board as part of ongoing reforms to ensure athlete safety, professionalism, and transparency in Ghana boxing administration.
This second phase follows the first held in November 2025 and forms part of broader reforms to safeguard athlete health, safety, and longevity. The exercise affirms the GBIMC’s commitment in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MoSR) and the National Sports Authority (NSA) to establishing a comprehensive digital health database for all licensed boxers and promoting professionalism in boxing.
