NPP national elections: 50 nomination forms purchased as filing opens

A total of 50 nomination forms have been purchased for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2026 National Officers Elections, according to the party’s National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC).

The Committee said the nomination period closed on Saturday, August 22, 2026, describing the process as successful and peaceful.

The 50 forms were purchased across the nine national officer positions up for election.

With nominations now closed, the process moves into the filing stage, which commenced on Sunday, August 23, and will end on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

The NOEC said the two-day extension of the filing period was intended to give aspirants adequate time to complete and submit their nomination documents for verification.

The Committee has assured that arrangements have been made for the orderly receipt, registration and secure custody of all nomination documents.

Vetting schedule

Vetting of nominees will commence on Monday, August 31, and continue until Thursday, September 3, 2026.

The schedule is as follows:

Monday, August 31

  • National Chairperson
  • General Secretary
  • National Treasurer

Tuesday, September 1

  • National Vice Chairperson

Wednesday, September 2

  • National Organiser
  • National Youth Organiser

Thursday, September 3

  • National Communications Director
  • National Nasara Organiser
  • National Women Organiser

The results of the vetting are expected to be published on September 5, with the appeals process scheduled for September 6 and 7.

The National Council and National Executive Committee are expected to meet on September 10, while the notice of poll will be issued on September 14.

The election of the party’s national officers is scheduled for October 3, 2026.

Chairperson and Vice Chairperson contests

Five aspirants have purchased nomination forms for the National Chairperson position. They are Paul Afoko, John Boadu, Boakye Agyarko, Sammy Crabbe and Bernard Antwi Boasiako.

Ten aspirants have also purchased forms to contest the National Vice Chairperson position. They are Henry Nana Boakye, Kojo Fosu Boadu, Mustapha Abdul Hameed, Samuel Pyne, Richard Ahiagba, Abena Pokua Boaitey Amoah, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, George Kwabena Abankwah Yeeboah and Horma Miezah.

The NOEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the elections in a fair, transparent, orderly and credible manner, while ensuring equal opportunities for all aspirants.
