Northshore Apparel Project to Generate 10,000 Jobs At Full Production – Goosie Tanoh

Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy Initiative, Goosie Tanoh, has announced that Northshore Apparel is expected to generate approximately 10,000 direct jobs when the company reaches full production capacity.

He made the disclosure on Friday, August 28, at the opening of the Northshore Apparel Hub in Savelugu in the Northern Region.

According to Mr Tanoh, the company’s employment strategy is designed to include persons with disabilities, which he described as a commendable model that other businesses in Ghana should emulate.

“At full capacity, North Shore Apparel expects to employ about 10,000 people directly. Among them will be persons with disabilities. This particular inclusion of differently abled persons in the workforce of North Shore Apparel is eminently commendable and a shining example for corporate Ghana to follow,” he said.

Beyond job creation, Mr Tanoh said the factory had incorporated social amenities aimed at improving the welfare of its workforce and their families.

These facilities include a clinic and a creche, which he said would provide essential support for workers at the facility.

He also disclosed that the company is preparing to expand its production operations from a two-shift system to three shifts.

According to him, the move would provide a practical example of how the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative can be implemented in the manufacturing sector.

Boost for industrialisation in northern Ghana

Mr Tanoh said the establishment of the Northshore Apparel facility in Savelugu represents an important shift from Ghana’s traditional concentration of industrial activity in the southern parts of the country.

He argued that the project demonstrates the potential for export-oriented manufacturing to succeed in northern Ghana while creating employment opportunities for young people within their communities.

He said the development was consistent with the government’s broader objective of decentralising economic activity and creating opportunities across all parts of the country.

Mr Tanoh added that the project supports the implementation of the government’s 24-Hour Economy programme and President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda by promoting industrialisation, job creation and inclusive economic growth.

The Northshore Apparel Hub is expected to contribute to the development of the local economy in Savelugu while providing employment and skills development opportunities for residents in the area.
