Forty-seven aspirants have completed the nomination filing process to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2026 National Officers Elections.
The party’s National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC), in a statement issued on Saturday, August 29, said the filing period ended at 6:00 p.m. on the same day, paving the way for the aspirants to undergo vetting.
The figure represents a reduction from the 50 individuals who initially purchased nomination forms to contest the various national positions.
According to the NOEC, three prospective candidates will not proceed to the next stage after failing to complete the filing process.
Former Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, withdrew his bid for the National Chairperson position.
Evans Kodom also pulled out of the contest for National Communications Director. His withdrawal leaves Dennis Miracles Aboagye as the sole aspirant for the position, subject to successfully passing the vetting process and satisfying all relevant requirements.
Meanwhile, Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada, who obtained a nomination form to contest the National Women Organiser position, failed to submit her completed forms before the deadline.
She will consequently not be part of the vetting exercise.
The vetting of the 47 aspirants is scheduled to commence on Monday, August 31, and conclude on Thursday, September 3.
Candidates seeking the positions of National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer will undergo vetting on Monday.
National Vice Chairperson aspirants will be considered on Tuesday, followed by candidates for National Organiser and National Youth Organiser on Wednesday.
The final day, Thursday, will be dedicated to aspirants for National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser and National Women Organiser.
The NOEC said each aspirant would be contacted individually with information on their assigned vetting time, venue and other requirements ahead of the exercise.
