According to the prosecution, Osei-Wusu allegedly promised to secure recruitment opportunities for the complainant and his relatives in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Ghana Police Service (GPS), Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

Assistant Superintendent of Police Raymond Ackom, who led the prosecution, told the court that the accused lives at Weija SCC in Accra, while the complainant is a civil servant based in the Bono Region.

The prosecution said the complainant joined a WhatsApp group called “Limited Job Opportunities” in October 2025. The group, which was allegedly administered by Osei-Wusu, advertised recruitment opportunities into various security institutions.

The complainant’s cousin, Gbenyare Yahaya, was also a member of the group and reportedly contacted the accused for further information before informing the complainant.

Payments Allegedly Made

The court heard that Osei-Wusu allegedly demanded GH¢15,000 for recruitment into the GRA and GH¢19,000 for opportunities involving the GAF and other security services.

On October 17, 2025, the complainant and Yahaya reportedly visited the accused’s office at Weija SCC and paid for two GAF recruitment slots.

The prosecution said Osei-Wusu subsequently claimed that he also had recruitment slots available for the GIS and GPS.

On December 24, 2025, the complainant allegedly transferred GH¢35,000 into the accused’s Fidelity Bank account.

The prosecution further told the court that in 2026, additional payments totalling GH¢20,000 were allegedly made through the accused’s Mobile Money wallet and two rural bank accounts for two GPS recruitment slots.

Osei-Wusu allegedly later requested another GH¢5,000 to facilitate the transfer of the complainant’s son, who was said to be in the second batch of GAF recruits, into the first batch.

Accused Allegedly Cut Communication

Despite receiving the payments, the accused allegedly failed to deliver the promised recruitment opportunities and subsequently blocked the complainant from contacting him.

The complainant reported the matter to the Police on August 8, 2026, leading to Osei-Wusu’s arrest.

The prosecution further alleged that the accused admitted the offence in his caution statement.

Osei-Wusu has pleaded not guilty, and the case is expected to return to court on September 22, 2026.
