The Ministry of Education has extended the operations of the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) resolution centres to Friday, September 18, 2026, as authorities work to clear outstanding senior high school placement cases.
Press Secretary to the Education Minister, Hashmin Mohammed, said the centres will continue operating from Monday to Friday across the country to assist students who are yet to secure placement in schools.
Mr Mohammed said the Ministry is hopeful that a significant number of the remaining cases will be resolved before students are expected to report to school on September 18.
Thousands Secure Placement Through Self-Placement
The Press Secretary disclosed that 53,887 students were initially placed under the self-placement category.
So far, 33,726 students have successfully secured placement in various schools through the process.
Meanwhile, the CSSPS Secretariat has received 9,948 cases at resolution centres nationwide, of which 4,531 have already been resolved.
Mr Mohammed urged affected students and parents to take advantage of the resolution centres as the Ministry works to reduce the number of unresolved cases before the reporting date.
“The resolution centres will remain active from Monday till Friday, and we are hoping that by Friday, the numbers should be able to go down because on September 18, they will report to school,” he said.»
Self-Placement Remains Available
The extension follows the Ministry’s earlier decision to allow students who were not placed during the initial CSSPS exercise to use the self-placement option to select schools and programmes with available vacancies.
The move is intended to provide an alternative pathway for students who remain without placement ahead of the new academic year.
