Ayawaso West Assembly Gives Traders One Week to Vacate 37 Military Hospital Walkway

Traders operating along the pedestrian walkway near the 37 Military Hospital in Accra have been given one week to vacate the area or risk being forcibly removed.

The directive was issued by a task force from the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly as part of an exercise to clear the walkway of unauthorised trading activities and other obstructions.

As part of preparations for the exercise, members of the task force have begun marking containers, stalls and other structures belonging to traders along the affected stretch.

The traders have been instructed to remove their belongings and leave the area within the one-week deadline.

The Assembly says the exercise is intended to reclaim the pedestrian walkway and restore it for its designated purpose, ensuring the free movement of pedestrians.

The task force is expected to return after the deadline to enforce the directive and remove traders and structures that remain at the location.

The planned clearance follows concerns over the increasing use of pedestrian walkways for trading, which has restricted pedestrian movement and created obstructions along the busy stretch.

Authorities have warned that traders who fail to comply with the directive could have their containers and other structures forcibly removed when the enforcement exercise begins.
