YEA-North Shore Apparel Partnership Employs 1,000 Young People in Savelugu

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has announced that 1,000 young people, with women among the key beneficiaries, have secured jobs through its partnership with North Shore Apparel Ghana Limited.

The Chief Executive Officer of the YEA, Malik Basintale, disclosed this during the agency’s Accountability Series on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, explaining that the initiative was established to train young people in industrial garment production and link them directly to available jobs at the company.

North Shore Apparel Ghana Limited, located in Savelugu in the Northern Region, operates in the garment manufacturing industry, offering employment opportunities through large-scale clothing production.

Mr Basintale said the programme had met its annual target, highlighting the role of industry-driven training in equipping young people with practical skills that match employers’ needs.

“It demonstrates how industry-linked training can be designed to meet specific employment needs. As of September 30, the agency had recorded 1,000 beneficiaries against an annual target of 1,000, representing 100 per cent achievement. All 1,000 beneficiaries have since been fully employed, with plans to deploy another 1,000 in the coming year,” he said.

He added that the partnership was helping to bridge the gap between skills training and industry requirements, enabling businesses to recruit trained workers while expanding employment opportunities for young people.

Meanwhile, Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy Initiative, Goosie Tanoh, disclosed on Friday, August 28, that North Shore Apparel was expected to create approximately 10,000 direct jobs when the factory reaches full production capacity.

Speaking at the inauguration of the North Shore Apparel Hub in Savelugu, Mr Tanoh said the company’s employment strategy also included persons with disabilities.

He commended the company for incorporating persons with disabilities into its workforce, describing the approach as a model for other businesses to emulate.
