Kantanka Pick-Ups Drive Tour du Ghana 2026 as Official Vehicle Sponsor

Kantanka Automobile is playing a key role in the organisation of the Tour du Ghana 2026, after being named the official vehicle sponsor of the race.

As part of its support for the 12th edition of the Tour du Ghana, Kantanka is providing pick-up vehicles to support the logistical and operational activities of the race.

The partnership places Kantanka, one of Ghana’s leading indigenous automobile brands, at the heart of one of the country’s biggest cycling events, providing reliable vehicle support as riders, officials, media and teams travel across different parts of Ghana

The Tour du Ghana is not only a major sporting competition but also an opportunity to showcase Ghana’s roads, communities, culture, tourism and locally developed businesses.

Kantanka’s involvement adds a strong Ghanaian identity to the event and shows the capacity of local brands to support major international sporting competitions.

Kantanka Automobile has also moved into electric vehicle production at its Kumasi factory. The brand has long promoted its vehicles through community giving, institutional partnerships and public showcases.

In July 2026, Kantanka donated two Boafo (Aboboyaa) tricycles to the sanitation volunteer group Buzstop Boys to support their clean-up work.

Kantanka vehicles have also been taken up by prominent institutions and traditional leaders. The Ghana Police Service, the Asantehene, the Office of the Vice-President and the Okyenhene have all acquired vehicles produced by the Kantanka Group.

After taking delivery of a customised SUV, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, publicly urged Ghanaians to buy locally assembled Kantanka models rather than import vehicles.

The company has also supported national institutions as part of its corporate social responsibility programme. On December 27, 2020, it presented a specially built security pick-up, the “Kantanka Omama”, to the Ghana Armed Forces at its annual technology exhibition in Accra.

The Ghana Cycling Federation in collaboration with the African Cycling Network Satellite has revised the arrival date for participating international teams from Monday, November 9 to Thursday, November 12, 2026.The change is intended to give teams, particularly those competing in the Tour du Faso, adequate time to complete their engagements, travel to Ghana and recover before the competition.

The Federation has also cancelled four stages of the race, Tamale, Buipe, Kintampo and Sunyani, as part of efforts to streamline the schedule and improve coordination of race operations.

With the support of vehicles, Kantanka is contributing directly to the smooth movement and logistics of the Tour du Ghana 2026, while using the platform to showcase Ghanaian automotive vehicles to cyclists, officials, cycling enthusiasts and international participants.

The partnership further reinforces Kantanka’s commitment to supporting Ghanaian sports and promoting home-grown businesses on major national and international platforms.
