Meter thief electrocuted at Suhyen

A man believed to be in his 30s has been electrocuted in Suhyen in the New Juaben North Municipality.

The lifeless body of the victim was discovered near an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) transformer, raising suspicions of an attempted theft.

A team from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the Ghana Police Service quickly responded to distress calls from the scene.

Preliminary observations suggest that, the deceased may have been electrocuted while attempting to steal components from the transformer.

The body has been transported to St. Joseph’s Mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

The Effiduase Division of the Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the incident.

Deputy NADMO officer for the New Juaben North Municipality, Kankam Twumasi Daniel, addressed the media regarding the incident.

He advised the community to remain vigilant and talked about the dangers associated with tampering with electrical installations.
