Gyakye Quayson Granted Permission To Be Absent On Next Date

The Accra high court has granted permission to the candidate on the national democratic congress’ ticket for Assin North constituency, Mr. James Gyakye Quayson, to be absent in court on the next adjourned date.

This is a result of his lawyers pleading with the court to allow him to be absent on some days so as to attend private matters as he prepares for the slated by-election. This has thereby seen the court adjourn the next sitting to Friday, 23rd June 2023.
The two sides argued out their cases as to whether the matter should be tried daily as ordered by the court. Meanwhile, before the arguments started, the attorney general objected with regard to Mr. Quayson’s lawyers not seeking leave of the court to file the affidavit. According to him, the defense team has referred to some comments attributed to him that related to the civil aspect of the matter against Mr. Quayson.
Meanwhile, the by-election of the most talked about constituency, Assin North, is slated for June 27, 2023.
