The minority caucus in parliament is calling for a thousand introspection into the alleged leaked tape uncovering a plot involving a high-ranking police officer and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), aimed at removing the IGP.
Deputy minority leader Emmanuel Amarh Kofi Buah who raised the matter on the floor of the house noted that the minister in the state in charge of the interior sector be made to look into the matter.
An alleged leaked tape has emerged, uncovering a plot involving a high-ranking police officer and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), aimed at removing the IGP.
Per the alleged leaked tape, Dr. Dampare could restrict efforts that would influence the outcome of the 2024 elections.
They raised concerns about his leadership style and rumored association with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
As a result, they concluded that achieving the NPP’s ‘Breaking the 8’ agenda, would be impossible with Dampare as the head of the police.
However, Interior Minister Ambrose Dery explained that an earlier engagement with the media on the matter seeks not to ascertain the authenticity of the tape but rather his undiluted view of the IGP’s performance so far.
Ranking member on parliament’s defense and interior committee James Agalga stated that What should be of major concern to the August house is the Conspiracy to undermine the sovereign will of the people of Ghana come December 2024.
Okaikwe central legislator, Patrick Boamah noted that there’s nothing like an interference of an IGP costing a political party.
Former Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu stressed that a Thorough forensic audit into the tape be made.
