The Minority in Parliament is demanding the relocation of pupils and students writing this year’s BECE and WASSCE to a safer location for the exercise.
Ranking member of the Education Committee in Parliament, Peter Nortsu-Kortoe believes the current state of insecurity has the tendency of affecting the peace of mind of the students.
He is therefore advocating that the student should be relocated to a safer place for the exam.
“The Minister of Education must take action. It will be necessary once you’ve raised it for me to contact the Ministry of Education to brief the Committee and the House on measures being taken. Are they taking the students away to other schools, especially the final-year students at the Senior High and Junior High Schools.
“What steps are they taking to ensure that they can write their examination in peace? It’s a delicate issue so I will take up the issue with the Minister,” the lawmaker stated.
He continued: “If they cannot have peace and their lives will be in danger and we cannot assure their safety, I will prefer that they are taken out of Bawku. Maybe to any other school, they can write their exams.”
