Akufo-Addo regrets dismissing Adu Boahen due to Anas exposé – Ken Agyapong

Controversial Ghanaian politician Kennedy Agyapong has claimed that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo harbors regret over the dismissal of former Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Charles Adu Boahen.

Agyapong stated in an interview that after President Akufo-Addo watched an investigative documentary produced by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, his perception changed regarding the dismissal of Charles Adu Boahen. Agyapong asserted that the video evidence presented in the documentary was “completely entrapment.”

President Akufo-Addo had dismissed Adu Boahen in November 2022 following allegations made against him in an exposé about small-scale gold mining. The matter was subsequently referred to the special prosecutor for further investigations.

Additionally, Agyapong addressed his controversial statement in which he called for the late investigative journalist Ahmed Suale to be beaten up. He clarified that he meant confronting Suale within the premises of Net 2 TV. Agyapong stated that he had no regrets about his call, pointing out that Suale’s investigative methods involved setting people up and creating problems for them.

Ahmed Suale, an investigative journalist who worked with Tiger Eye PI, was known for using undercover methods to expose corruption and other issues in society. He was murdered in Accra in January 2019, which led to shock and concern within the media industry about the safety of journalists.
