The Abuakwa South Member of Parliament, Samuel Atta Kyea, has strongly denied making derogatory remarks about former President John Dramani Mahama.
In a statement, Atta Kyea described the claims as “malicious propaganda” and emphasized his respect for the office of the president. He asserted that he would not equate someone who has held the highest office in the country to derogatory terms.
Atta Kyea also stated that he had a good relationship with John Dramani Mahama and his brother, Ibrahim Mahama. He urged the public to disregard the circulated video that suggests he made such remarks.
In addition, Atta Kyea rejected claims made by former Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko, that he played a role in Agyarko’s dismissal from his ministerial position.
Atta Kyea provided four points to refute the allegations, including his lack of involvement in Ameri matters and the renegotiation of the Ameri Power Plant Agreement. He also denied contacting lawyers regarding committee work and denied entering into any discussions to override cabinet decisions. Atta Kyea said he was motivated to respond to Agyarko’s claims, which were repeated in an interview, to set the record straight.
