North East region hit by floods, resulting in 5 casualties

Heavy rainfall in various parts of the North East Region of Ghana has led to severe flooding, resulting in tragic loss of lives and injuries.

Five individuals have lost their lives, with four drowning in floodwaters in the East Mamprusi and West Mamprusi municipalities.

Additionally, one person died when a building collapsed in the Yunyoo/Nansuan District. The floods have caused extensive damage to property, including houses, farmlands, and livestock.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) is assessing the situation and providing emergency relief to the affected areas. Residents living along the White Volta have been advised to relocate to higher ground to prevent further disasters.

The floods have also disrupted transportation routes and isolated some communities. The affected areas include Walewale, Nalerigu, Gaagbini, Tinguri, Mimima, Kuruguduri, Yunyoo, and Chereponi.
