Give me back my ₵2.5m – NAM1 furious police deposited money to pay clients at BoG

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah, is not happy with the decision of the Ghana Police Service to lodge some GH₵2.5 million he gave to the law enforcement body for disbursement to his aggrieved clients, at the Bank of Ghana.

NAM1 has threatened to retrieve the money from the police.

“The intent was not to give money to the police to distribute”, he added: “We went to the police because we wanted security”.

“The agreement with the police was to have them provide a desk where we could distribute the money”, Mr Appiah Mensah said in an interview.

“I am surprised the money has been deposited at the Bank of Ghana”, he fumed.

“I will go back to the police and ask them to give the money back to me because that was not our arrangement, “.

The police earlier explained that it took the decision upon the advice of the Attorney General.

“We would like to state that the court would determine the decision on the disbursement of the money”, a police statement said.
