Some women in the Kukuo community in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region have lamented that their husbands refuse to sleep with them because they sometimes do not bathe due to the water crises in the area.
“Because of the lack of water, our husbands refuse to sleep with us saying we smell and that we are not attractive”. The women lamented while speaking to journalists about their predicament.
According to them, some young ladies in the Kukuo community have lost their future husbands who initially approached them but later found out that they came from that community and rejected them.
“Some of our young girls have lost their future husbands because when a gentle meets them and ask where they stay and they say Kukuo they that community they ask if it’s that without potable water then reject them”. They claimed
The Kukuo community in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern region, has been faced with water crisis for so many years which has impacted on economic activities in the area compelling some resident to make do with water from the GHANASCO dams.
Some residents claim that even though they have pipes in their houses, water has never flowed through them for so many years.
The situation has compelled them to buy water from water tankers and other sources in order to get access to potable water.
Second-cycle schools around the Kukuo surroundings also depend on the GHANASCO dam due to the lack of potable water in the area.
Residents have therefore called on government, institutions, organizations and philanthropists to come to their aid to provide them with potable water.
