A/R: Fire razes 70 shops at Kumasi Racecourse market

Fire has swept through the Kumasi Racecourse Market in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti region, engulfing approximately 70 shops in its path. 

The fire, which began around 7 am, prompted an urgent response from firefighters to contain the blaze.

Firefighters successfully managed to confine the fire; however, the incident resulted in substantial property losses estimated to be worth thousands of Ghana Cedis. 

The affected shops suffered severe damage, marking a significant setback for the impacted traders.

Despite the intensity of the blaze, there were no reported casualties, offering a silver lining amid the unfortunate incident. Emergency services acted swiftly to prevent harm to individuals within the vicinity.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

Investigations have, however, commenced into the incident, the Regional Fire Commander, Mr Henry Giwah, revealed.
