Communications officer of the  National Democratic Congress(NDC), Sammy Esq. Gyamfi says, the most startling revelation by the Office of the Special prosecutor(OSP) in it’s Corruption Risk Assessment report on the “Agyapa” deal, was the fact that some illegal payments were made to certain entities.  He stated this in the”A moment of truth series” in the February edition.

He mentioned that these entities include Databank, which belongs to Ken Ofori Atta the immediate-past finance minister who is also a cousin of President Akuffo-Addo, as well as Africa Legal Associates, a law firm owned by Gabby Otchere Darko, also another cousin of President Akuffo-Addo.

The  Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Minerals Income Investment Fund(MIIF), Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng disclosed at a Public Accounts Committee sitting that 12 million US dollars was spent on the  Agyapa royalties deal to pay for consultancy fees, renting of office space and the processes related to issuing the initial public offering on the London stock exchange.

Sammy Gyamfi also spoke about better ways the USD12 million equivalent to GHS 153 million could have been used to develop the country. These include;paying the allowances of national service personnel, paying for months of treatment for kidney patients in Ghana, providing childhood vaccines amongst others.

He also made it known at the press conference that the NDC government has plans to investigate the Agyapa royalty deal, retrieving the money and ensuring that all perpetrators are prosecuted if they come into power.
